Charming Ventnor is a real gem. A Victorian town with a Mediterranean feel, Ventnor is built on a series of terraces that zig-zag down to the seafront with its sand and shingle beach. And, thanks to the town's micro-climate, Ventnor is an excellent spot for sunbathing, swimming and enjoying your favourite watersports throughout the year. There are lots of things to do in Ventnor and the surrounding area whatever the weather. The beaches and Ventnor promenade offer activities aplenty, and in Ventnor town there are a number of vintage shops and antique stores that has made Ventnor a very popular shopping destination. Ventnor was well known as a health resort in Victorian times and on the site of a former hospital you will find Ventnor Botanic Gardens, which takes advantage of the mild climate to put on an incredible display of plants from around the world. If you have little ones in tow, the iconic Isle of Wight-shaped paddling pool on Ventnor seafront is well worth a visit and will provide a holiday snap that you will treasure forever. Nearby also is popular Blackgang Chine, the UK's oldest amusement park. You will also discover an abundance of pubs, cafés, bars and restaurants, with a number of unique places to relax and soak up the town’s chilled-out vibe while enjoying a bite to eat. To the east of the town is Bonchurch, which is a stunning village where Charles Dickens once stayed. Steeped in history Bonchurch offers some great walks, and there is also a fanastic secluded beach.
