The hotel resides within a lovely granite townhouse, which was formerly the home of the De Saumarez family who are renowned in Guernsey history. It recently celebrated its centenary as a top island hotel and has been run by the same family for almost 60 years. Inside, while there is a sense of its history, the hotel is also right up to date with modern day amenities expected by today’s travellers.
Leisure facilities include a small health suite with a jacuzzi and sauna, while the fitness room is well-equipped for those who like to keep up their fitness regime. Moores guests are also welcome to use the indoor swimming pool at two sister hotels, Hotel de Havelet and Les Rocquettes, both of which are in St Peter Port.
The attractive Conservatory Restaurant enjoys a very good reputation for fine food, with breakfast including a wide selection on the buffet plus traditional cooked English breakfast. Each evening, there’s a varied three course dinner menu with vegetarian options while the a la carte menu featuring Guernsey seafood offers even more choice. An alternative venue at the hotel is JB Parker’s, an exciting bar, restaurant and wine cellar, which mixes ale house tradition with contemporary style. Here, the buzzing open-kitchen and charcoal grill sets the tone for seriously tasty food while the bar serves up cool cocktails, craft beers, real ales and the ubiquitous range of gins. Moores also boasts Anni's Hideaway Patisserie & Brasserie, an authentic Austrian patisserie which serves some of the finest gateaux in Guernsey. The hotel also has an extensive sun terrace where, during the warmer months, you can dine and drink alfresco.
Most of the hotel’s 46 bedrooms are double or twin bedded, although there are a limited number of family and single rooms too. Standard rooms each offer a television, telephone, hairdryer, beverage tray, room service and complimentary WiFi.
Superior rooms also benefit from air-conditioning, a small fridge and iPod dock, while the luxury suites are very spacious, individually furnished and also provide a Smart TV, Blu-ray player, complimentary soft drinks, bathrobes and slippers.
