About the hotel
Set within beautifully restored 18th century buildings, The Blonde Hedgehog is a delightful little haven with thoughtfully designed rooms spread between the main hotel and Clarence House. Expect warm and inviting accommodation with a home-from-home feel that reflects the island's character, along with pretty gardens and a short walk to several of Alderney's beaches.
Your upgrade takes you to Clarence House, the hotel's elegant neighbour and once a family home to Alderney's aristocracy, where the two ground floor suites each have a large double bedroom, a separate lounge and a generous en-suite with a deep freestanding bathtub. Le Marais has an original fireplace, while Le Huret is full of rustic charm with exposed brick and stonework, so whichever you stay in, you'll have plenty of space to settle in and unwind after a day on the cliff paths.
The hotel is highly regarded for its restaurant and bar, where island flavours take centre stage. Some of Alderney's finest produce is crafted into bold, seasonal dishes that celebrate both land and sea, making your complimentary dinner one of the highlights of your stay.
About Alderney
Alderney is the most northerly of the inhabited Channel Islands and just a short flight away. At three and a half miles long and a mile and a half wide, it's an island made for exploring at a gentle pace, with sandy beaches, dramatic coastal walks and Victorian and wartime forts dotted along the shoreline.
Nature lovers will find plenty to enjoy too. Gannets gather in their thousands on the rocky stacks of Les Étacs, and Alderney is famous for its rare blonde hedgehogs, seldom found anywhere else in Europe and the very creatures that gave the hotel its name. With around 2,000 residents and a relaxed pace of life, it's the perfect island for a peaceful escape.
